Do you ever feel like a ton has happen in the moment but then you look back and nothing has happened? Yeah that was this week.
So random thing I've been working really hard on this week is fixing my English. For some reason I've developed this habit of saying "like" a million times in each sentence, it's become a filler word so after the guys in the 4-man make fun of me for it I've been trying to eliminate it, but man does it make my English soooo awkward! Sometimes if I say it too much i just get frustrated and just speak in dutch instead... the struggle of now speaking bad Dutch and even worse English, haha! On the bright side I'm doing better at only talking Dutch, now I've done it 4 of the last 5 days.
So what did happen this week? Met a chill new guy to teach and he seemed interested but he dropped us before the week could end, so that was too bad. The less active lady Esther is still going strong and we will be meeting with her like 2 times a week.
We had two dinner appointments from people we taught. One was a super chill French/dutch family that made us some good French food! Super cool family and we got to talk a ton about the temple with them actually, but in the end it was kinda a "well we aren't going to change but keep doing what you are doing" so yes, we got dropped but they at least fed us first. :) The next was a Brazilian family that fed us insanely good traditional Brazilian food! It's the best ever! we shared the Restoration with a couple of the younger girls because they spoke the best dutch. But I'm pretty sure they are more interested in me than the gospel because one of them asked me out twice, haha, but they did say they would try to make it to church this coming week so we think that's the best way to actually get them all to listen long enough to become interested; cross our fingers.
So while reflecting on the week me and my comp both see that we have found friends but not investigators recently and i think that comes a lot because my comp loves to small talk for ages and then the Restoration becomes a side show. so after a small "heated discussion" we both are on the same page about really committing people to progress. So hopefully we can take better use of the opportunities we get this coming week.
Also last note: I just started reading the book "The Power of Everyday Missionaries" by Clayton Christensen (i think?) but If anyone reading this hasn't read it, you need to go online and order it now! It will change your perspective of missionary work and how you can do it. I'd honestly put that put next to the huge church policy handbook #2 in importance for members and especially ward council members. What I'd give if the members in this country would read that book!!!!!!
