I'd like to start off by wishing every dad out there a happy father's day! and I'd like to share a story relating to my Dad. So this week was great, but it was highlighted by a couple of bike issues that messed up some of our plans. When they happened I was looking at my bike pretty frustrated, but then a thought came to mind "what would Dad do?" he being a very big biker and having lots of experience with broken bikes I decided to follow that feeling: So I took the bike to a shop and had someone else fix it for me ;) love you Dad!! haha Yeah its fixed up a bit now and it's left me kinda poor, but at least its fixed!
Next I'll make a shout out to my dutch dad (and mom) Ron and Esther for coming all the way down to Hilversum to meet me for lunch on Saturday! We had a super amazing time catching up and having some very delicious dutch food. Thanks mate! @ron (hopefully you get the American slang in that one)
So lots of miracles this week!
Miracle #1: Esther (no not Ron's wife) who is a less active that just showed up to church one week and wants to come back so we have had 3 lessons with her since then and are working on getting her to the temple. its going to be a long road but she is a very sweet, kinda socially awkward, but surprisingly smart lady. I'm pumped for her!!!
Miracle #2: Kei is a super cool muslim guy (by choice not birth) we first knocked on the door then he immediately shut us down then we just told him we wanted to talk about spirituality not faith (Dutch people hate religion and faith but they think spirituality is cool) and he just said ök so do you want coffee or juice? and let us in. He took the Book Of Mormon and told us he would read it all in a couple weeks and wants to go to church. No he doesn't want to convert but I'm sure something will touch him along the way. and no one that we ever talk to wants to convert but it happens eventually. haha Still He's a super cool guy and a very interesting experience!
Miracle #3: Four investigators want to cook for us! haha For whatever reason everyone has been inviting us to eat with them recently. So we have 2 dinners planned or in the works with dutch people. 1 family is making us Brazilian food and another lady is making us a French meal. so we may only be able to get 2-3 member dinners a month, but the investigators are coming up clutch! haha
miracle #4: We got to experience what a South American mission is like for a second this last week.
We knock on a door and this Brazilian girl that is 17-18 comes to the door and we just say we are teaching about Jesus Christ and she just says, "Do you want to come in?" so we get in and talk to her, her sister and aunt, and like 7 people were there, and we gave them 3 Book of Mormons without even talking about the Joseph Smith story and we are bringing back 4 Portuguese books this week! so 4 of them speak Dutch the others only Portuguese so we will have the girl translate for them but they were so nice and open to it right off the bat. easily the best miracle of the week. so hopefully everything goes well this week and maybe we will get them to come to church (which would be more than there are members, haha.
Needless to say this was a great week :) I'm so happy right now!
loving life!
Love you guys!
