So before i go into my week wanted to tell you about flight plans. so we get to SLC at 7 and leave around 10 to Atlanta and have an hour lay over in Atlanta then off to Amsterdam. So a slight problem in the plans haha I dont have my Visa yet! actually only 5 out of 15 of us have them so far! So im temporarly reassigned to the Washington Federal Way mission with another Elder in my district (the rest are going to reno and Vegas). They will give us the official list at the end of the week so i may still go to the Netherlands, but youll probably find out monday morning when i call you because i dont know what the WA flight plans will be! But ill try to call in the morning when everyone is still at home!
Dont worry im actually super stoked to go to WA if my visa doesnt comes in, its going to be sweet!
So for my week, we did these 30 minute skype lessons with members from the Netherlands last week, and we found out the guy me and Elder Leishman taught was the man who translated the Book of Mormon into Dutch! Talk about intimidating! :) It was a good lesson though but i just kept thinking that we really should be the ones learning from him haha
Awesome experience teaching by the spirit last week, we did an activity where we just had to keep asking our partner (another person in our class) questions till we figured out a way to teach them about how God is our Heavenly Father. So i asked a few questions and got nothing so i asked one more and all of the sudden my mind had this idea (he had just said it was scary that God knows everything about us and our thoughts) about how he is like that best friend we all have that we can just open up to because they know us so well, and because they know us so well they can tell us exactly what we need to hear or do. Awesome because i suddenly knew how to say it all in dutch too!
It was a great experience because i have struggles listening to the spirit and determining what things are promptings or not! So if you guys (family, friends, random people on this email list ;) ) have any experiences or scriptures about listening to the spirit go to dearelder.com and send me a letter real quick! (Elder Talyon Perry unit #87 BEL-NETH 07JUL 2005 north 900 east Provo UT, 84602) i dont get mail saturday so do it before then if you can! Thanks!
So final things about the MTC. Loved my experience here and ive found one thing in my time here the time i spend thinking about myself have been the roughest days of my time here. the second week when we kept teaching that investigator and the past week when ive been tutoring an Elder in my district with his dutch have been the best times of my mission! I have a huge testimony of service and i know that when we serve others we think less about ourselves and have so much more joy in our lives!
Off to Netherlands (or Washington haha)!
