Life got a lot more exciting this last week with our new comps! We picked up Elder Needham and Elder Torrie on Tuesday and got a little office work done before heading home to unpack and set up new closets because our apartment really is only big enough for 2 missionaries, which means I'm sleeping on the couch for the next month haha but its fine I slept there for like a whole transfer anyway because our beds are terrible :)
Wednesday and Friday were both Brussel trip days. Wednesday we took the train which is always easier except when we tried to get home and our train got cancelled. So instead of getting home at 7 we got back after 9... Friday also went perfectly in the mission van! I'm going to miss driving stick in the craziest city I've ever been in. Oh yeah speaking of crazy I almost killed a lady on Friday! Dont worry it wasn't my fault. I was driving the mission van in Leiden, and on the way back from the trip when some biker lady fell off her bike and hit het head HARD on the pavement. Luckly I was going under the speed limit so that I could stop in time but scary thing is her head was right where my tires were going to end up. One of those moments when you realize why we have rules in life, whether they be speed limits or commandments, because if I was speeding I'm pretty sure the story would have had a very different ending.
To tell you a bit about my new comps: Elder Needham (my replacement) is from Logan Utah and loves sports so we get along well with each other. He is the second of 9 kids. Yeah, a very stereotype mormon family :) He's been on his mission for about 15 months or so. His dad runs a jewelry store in logan so he is likely going to go to school to become a goldsmith! Elder Torrie is also from somewhere in the logan area. He loves computers and robotics, as his dad owns a robotics company. He will do sports but his thing is music. He plays the cello and can sing very well. Both of them are super nice.
The couple that we eat with every Monday, John and Tessa, wanted to prank the new guys so we took our new comps to their house where they pretended to be investigators. The plan was to have John and Tessa ask the new guys tons of hard questions and watch them fumble around trying to answer them. It was great! Every now and then I'd throw out there something random like "We believe in the bible and the book of mormon. Actually Joseph Smith translated the bible correctly as well so now our bible is better than anyone elses; everytime I did that elder Needham gave this "WHAT ARE YOU SAYING?" face because it gave John and Tessa new questions to ask. After about 20 minutes of messing with them, we finally broke off the joke. Elder Needham and Elder Torrie were pretty salty but they got a good kick out of it :)
I'm excited for this next week because Elder Johnson from the Seventy is visiting our mission and giving us a great conference. Stay tuned for some thoughts on what he said!
