I hope ya'll had a great thanksgiving weekend! Sounds like it was pretty busy in Park City. It seems so foreign to celebrate holidays with family anymore because either the dutch don't celebrate them or we spend it with someone else's family so its just not the same. Me and Elder McConkie cooked ourselves a bird for thanksgiving, just a little chicken but still fun. Can't wait to celebrate with the family though.
This week was not too crazy. We had an interesting appointment with our investigator Renee. He is schizophrenic but is pretty stable. He's one of those guys that you don't really know why you keep going back but you just do. He will go off on his research of conspiracy theories and goes kinda crazy about it, but he's been reading the Book of Mormon quite a bit. In one week he finished 1 Nephi and is starting on 2 Nephi, and he understands it! He talks about and can name Nephi, Lehi, Laman, etc. He makes comments about how Nephi knew Christ was coming 600 years before or he compared the hardness of Laman's heart to how society is hardening their heart more and more. Its those funny comments that give us hope, but honestly we are still just mind blown about his comprehension! We are giving him a couple weeks to read and we will reassess his potential then. We had a really cool moment with him where we asked his about what he wants in life "relief from psychiatric problems, love, and peace"; So we invited him to pray about it right then, and he did, and he just said he felt so much peace! An answer to his prayers and my prayers.
There wasn't really anything else noteworthy, so stay tuned for next week! We are picking up our 2 replacements on Tuesday, so I'll tell you all about Elder Torrie and Elder Needham, who will be my replacement!
